Rough out storyboard

When working on storyboard, its important to rough out the actions and posse before doing the good copy. This is the step where it take the most planing. Basicly storyboard require the most work, its posing, expression, layout and object drawing all in one. So make sure you leave alot of time for it.

Winter Fair 2010

Went to The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. The have all kind of farm animals and its all indoor. So its a great way to get close to the animal and draw them (other then the smell.. i guess) It was a fun trip and we got alot of animal done. But we went on the last day and all the horses is gone... which we could have some horse drawing in the portfolio.

Rough location design

Planing out one of the two layout. At this point we draw the character in a cut out. this way its easier to stage the character around to a spot that work. We will just trace over it in good copy.

Rough object drawing

First step of drawing the object drawing is to plan it out with construction. With the right construction, its easiler to rotate and deform the object in the next drawing.

character 3/4 front

A rough 3/4 front of Elizabeth's character. Its not final yet, still need better line quality. But is a start of the character rotation, a solid 3/4 front with construction will make the rest of the rotation so much easier.

character posing

Some character posing I did. This character is base on Elizabeth's. It was a fun charactor to draw. I drew 5 pages of her character running, jumping and doing all thing little girl will do. Its important to draw your character in all kind of action before you actually start the action pose.  You charactor might not be on model, but its a good way to get to know your character more. The more you spend time with it, the better you will know your character. Kind of like girlfriend and boyfroend, i guess....
